RecRED was presented by UPRC to an audience of university students/graduates, as well as other members of the ICT and security industry, in the framework of an event hosted by the International Hellenic University (IHU) in the city of Thessaloniki - Greece.
The IHU School of Science and Technology, the first Greek public university where programmes are taught exclusively in English, financed by both the European Union and the Greek State, organized the event named Cybersecurity: The Expanding Frontier on July 7th 2016, where speakers from academia, research institutes and industry were asked to provide their expertise on the multi-faceted problem of cybersecurity with an emphasis on its diverse aspects and ever-evolving characteristics.
C. Xenakis from UPRC was invited to present ReCRED’s approach for device-centric access control, focusing on how the work being carried by the project helps addressing, among others, the password management issue.
The event's goal was to dispel some of the common myths regarding cybersecurity and point out challenges and opportunities that a cybersecurity professional must face in a global competitive environment. Attendance was free to students, young ICT professionals, the general public and all those who wish to become familiar with cybersecurity and information security in general.
ReCRED's impact was confirmed by the evident interest of the attendees during the discussion that followed, since the strong, password-less authentication proposed by ReCRED, was praised as an important contribution to the digital society.
